SC TORONTO SHARE TOP SPOT FOLLOWING WEEKEND WINS...weather knocks out Brampton vs Mississauga Eagles SC Toronto join Toronto Croatia at the top of the CSL First Division following a 4-0 victory over North York Astros, St. Cathaines Wolves and Windsor Stars played to a 1-1 tie and York Region Shooters scored with seconds remaining to tie 1-1 with Serbian White Eagles, three games in the CSL First Division Sunday. SC Toronto forward Kyle Hall opened the scoring at 9 minutes at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York, he took control in a goalmouth scramble to kick the ball on the underside of the crossbar and over the line out of reach of Astros’ goalkeeper Enea Perego for the 1-0 lead and just five minutes later midfielder Dane Roberts increased the lead to 2-0, the score at the break. North York Astros lost forward Vasileios Liagkos at 32 minutes, he was shown the red card by referee Yusri Rudolf for violent conduct. Toronto forward Jonathan Osorio scored his third goal of the weekend following his two-goal winning effort against Kingston Friday night, he struck at 71 minutes for a 3-0 score and Evroy Junior Ellis scored in the dying seconds to complete the scoring, 4-0 in favour of the visitors. SC Toronto picked up six points following their two wins over the weekend, they now have a 9-1-4 WLT record for 31 points, a similar record to that of top place Toronto Croatia, also with 31 points. North York Astros are at 2-13-1 for 7 points. Serbian White Eagles were heading for victory with a 1-0 lead until York Region Shooters tied the game at 91 minutes at the St. Joan of Arc ground in Maple. Following a scoreless first half, forward Sasa Vukoje scored off a cross from the left wing at 49 minutes and the goal held up with little time remaining when Shooters’ defender Ricky Herron took a throw-in to find the net past Serbian Eagles goalkeeper Stefan Avramovic and it was 1-1 at the final whistle. Herron was shown the red card by referee David Barrie at the end of the game for a reported violent conduct offence. St. Catharines’ Camilo Veloza found the net past Windsor goalkeeper Anthony Santilli to put the home side into the lead at 4 minutes at Club Roma in St. Catharines. The midfielder took a rebound off the post to put the ball into the net and the goal held for a 1-0 score at the interval. Windsor Stars equalized at 69 minutes from a goal from the penalty spot when referee Manuel Orellano called St. Catharines midfielder Derek Libertino for hand ball in the box. David Kadoic put the ball past Wolves’ goalkeeper Claudio Perri for a 1-1 score which held until the final whistle. There was one First Division game postponed due to wet ground conditions, the Brampton City Utd vs. Mississauga Eagles FC game was called off Sunday morning.
