TORONTO CROATIA'S VUCEMILOVIC GRGIC HITS HAT-TRICK IN 6-0 WIN SUNDAY, Brampton gains 8-2 victory, Shooters triumph 1-0 Midfielder Marin Vucemilovic Grgic led Toronro Croatia with a hat-trick in a 6-0 romp over North York Astros, Brampton City Utd slammed Brantford Galaxy, 8-2, and York Region Shooters squeaked past St. Catharines Wolves 1-0, three games in the CSL Sunday. Brantford Galaxy conceded two penalties in the early stages of their game with Brampton City Utd at Lions Park, both scored by David Guzman following a hand ball in the box at 13 minutes and a foul by Galaxy goalkeeper Melford James Jr just three minutes later. Brampton striker Daniel Nascimento headed past James at 18 minutes to make it 3-0, but Brantford’s Dave Simpson reduced the lead to 3-1 with a goal at the 19th minute mark. Brantford were reduced to 10 men when midfielder Nikolas Jelicic was given a second caution and shown the red card by referee Arthur Korbiel at 30 minutes, but the home side reduced the lead again when Jack Przednowek struck from 22 yards at the 37th minute mark, a 3-2 score in favour of Brampton. Brampton’s Milos Scepanovic scored just on half-time to make it 4-2 and three minutes into the second half he found the net again to make it 5-2 on a breakaway. Brampton forward Marcos Nunes scored to increase the lead to 6-2 at 80 minutes, defender Mirko Medic scored off a corner kick for the visitors to make it 7-2 and Jean Tshimpaka rounded out the scoring 8-2 in favour of Brampton City Utd. Toronto Croatia scored early to eventually control the play against North York Astros at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York, with the opening goal coming at three minutes by midfielder Andelo Srzentic and that was followed just three minutes later when Marin Vucemilovic Grgic scored the first of three goals from a penalty kick. Vucemilovic Grgic struck again at 19 minutes when he found the net past Astros’ goalkeeper Antal Toth and Croatia’s Hayden Fitzwilliams made it 4-0 at the 24th minute mark. Vucemilovic Grgic completed his hat-trick just before half-time for a 5-0 score at the interval. Toronto Croatia forward Hugo Herrera made it 6-0 for the visitors at 71 minutes and it was 6-0 at the final whistle. It was a well-played contest at the St. Joan of Arc ground in Maple despite a scoreless first half and it was not until the 52nd minute when midfielder Desmond Humphrey beat St. Catharines Wolves goalkeeper Claudio Perri to score the lone goal for York Region Shooters, enough to secure the 1-0 win and three points for the home side. There was one game played in the CSL Second Division Sunday, York Region Shooters B defeated St. Catharines Wolves B by a score of 1-0. There is one midweek game coming up with St. Catharines Wolves at home to SC Waterloo at Club Roma in St. Catharines on Wednesday, an 8 pm kickoff.
