WINDSOR OPENS ON WINNING NOTE, KINGSTON, SHOOTERS TIE 1-1

Windsor Stars kicked off their home season on a winning note with a 1-0 victory
over Brampton City Utd, while Kingston FC and York Region Shooters played
to a 1-1 tie in another close encounter, both games in the Canadian Soccer
League First Division Saturday night.

Midfielder David Kadoic struck the only goal of the game at 4 minutes of the first
half at Wndsor Stadium when referee Arthur Kobiel awarded a penalty to the home side,
but it took two attempts from the spot before Kadoic found the net.

Brampton goalkeeper Jason Lopes saved the first attempt, but referee Kobiel
ruled the visiting goalkeeper moved off his line too soon and ordered a re-take,
which Kadoic scored.

It was close for the remainder of the game and Windsor goalkeeper Anthony Santilli
preserved the win with some good saves.

Kingston FC took the lead after 15 minutes at the Invista Centre when Edgar Soglo
took a cross from the right wing just outside the six-yard box to push the ball
past York Region goalkeeper Emanuelle Ameltonis.

Almost immediately after the re-start, York Region Shooters were on even terms with
a goal by Andre Manders who struck the ball from 20 yards to beat Kingston
goalkeeper Morgan Kenny.

York Region were down to 10 men at the 74th minute mark when defender Ricky Heron
received a second caution at 74 minutes and referee Carolanne Chenard then brought
out the red.

There were scoring chances at both ends during the second half, but the game ended 1-1.
