May 6, 2012--SC WATERLOO, YORK REGION REGISTER OPENING WINS SUNDAY (from CSL website)
SC Waterloo and York Region Shooters both registered wins in their season opener in the Canadian Soccer League Sunday.
SC Waterloo, with seven players signed from European clubs during the close season, defeated Windsor Stars 2-0
at the Seagram Stadium in Waterloo, while York Region Shooters squeaked through their opener 1-0 at the St. Joan of Arc ground in Maple.
SC Waterloo forward Dado Hadrovic, one of the recent arrivals, struck both goals in the 2-0 victory. The first at 8 minutes
into the game when he beat Windsor goalkeeper Anthony Santilli. for a 1-0 score at the interval and the second goal coming
at the 57 minute mark.
York Region defender Andrae Rollins scored his side’s only goal at 9 minutes after taking a pass just outside of the box
to drive the ball into the top corner of the net out of reach of Galaxy goalkeeper Melford James Jr.
It was a close contest through the remainder of the game, but the score held to the final whistle.
