Halftime Entertainment:...There is soccer game played by kids from the Etobicoke Soccer Club played inside the center circle. The kids don't get out to the field until there are only 4 1/2 minutes before the end of halftime and the game lasts three minutes.

Attendance was announced as 19816 on this mild evening. Like most midweek games here the stadium started out half full and filled as time passed.
This was a game between the worst team in the East and the worst team in the West. It was a close, exciting game but filled with plenty of mistakes from these bottom dwellers. Whitecaps didn't have a shot on net the entire game! TFC only had two on target.
Whitecaps rested some of their 'best' players to save them for the second game of the Canadian Nutrilite Championship this Saturday which is replay of a game that had to be abandoned because of a thunderstorm last month with the Whitecaps leading 1-0. The game will be restarted from the beginning with a 0-0 score. Both teams should realize that the MLS playoffs are remote but TFC started their first team. We'll have to wait until the weekend to see if Whitecaps strategy pays off.
Before the game TFC paraded out their new signings who can't play for them right now until the international transfer window officially opens on July 15th. They are Dutch forward Danny Koevermans and German midfielder Torsten Frings. They will both be considered 'designated players' by the league and bring the team to their three DP maximum (joining DP Julian de Guzman). Frings has been touted for bringing his leadership experience to the team but then at the press conference earlier in the week it was admitted he can barely speak English. Oh boy. Maybe he can use hand gestures!
