Attendance was about 50 for this early evening game.

Kings started off strong in the first half with pressure but the Lynx defenders were always around to block a shot or check the ball away. Their only chances in that first half were on a few counterattack breakouts.

Best early chances were at 21 minutes when Kings Dylan Lax blasted a 25 yard shot off the right goalpost which a defender was then able to clear away. That shot had been set up when Kings captain Brandon Stelmak had slid in to upend a Lynx defender and the referee allowed play to carry on. Stelmak needed to have his head bandaged as soon as there was a stop in play but finished the game. At 29 minutes Lynx Jordan Kotsopoulos rushed down the middle on a breakaway from 40 yards and his low shot from 20 yards was over the sliding goalie at 16 yards but rolled just wide left of the post. After that missed chance Lynx head coach Duncan Wilde subbed in Jelani Smith for forward Leigh Veidman to shake things up as that had been their only chance up until then. At 36 minutes Lynx Lee Smyth sent in a low cornerkick from the right that rolled through the box and four separate Lynx players missed on 3 yard shots.

Second half had the Lynx gradually take control. Lewandowski crossed from 20 yards on the right and a leaping Macca Wilde was not quite able to turn a 6 yard header on the left. Two minutes later Jelani Smith got to a through ball pass up the left and he took a 10 yard shot that goalie pushed wide left. Cazz Warren replaced Smith at 65 minutes—one of the rare times when a sub replaces a sub. At 68 minutes Wilde had two shots blocked at 8 yards and on a partial clearance McKenna took a 20 yard shot up the middle that the goalie was able to palm over the net. Lynx defender Al James made a crucial stop at 78 minutes when he poked away a ball at 12 yards from behind that Kings Ian Block who'd just received a short pass in the clear was just getting ready to shoot or run towards the net. Then four minutes later came the first goal and then a second only three minutes later. Now that's what Canada needed in the game against Panama last night! Lynx wore white and Kings wore red to give me even more of a flashback.

Mike Watkins earned the shutout for the Lynx. Defenders Jordan Taylor, Callum Home, Konner McNamara and Al James certainly helped him. Usual defender Taylor Lord wasn't in tonight's lineup. I was actually out of the stadium when I realized this and asked a player in the parking lot. It turned out to be Lord himself. Oops! He said he has a slight injury but will play in Sunday's game (1:00pm against Indiana).

I only counted referee Joe Piacente giving out one card in the game that was not especially rough.

Lynx record improves to three wins, three losses and they pass the Kings in the standings. Kings play again tomorrow against Hamilton Rage FC.
