Late Goal Lifts Lady Lynx Past Rage 17-year-old McNicoll scores her first W-League goal Toronto Lady Lynx News Release -- www.lynxsoccer.com Wednesday, May 25, 2011 McNicoll opens scoring for Lady Lynx.TORONTO -- The Toronto Lady Lynx got goals by Kirsty McNicoll, Zakiya McIntosh and Christine Exeter to take a 3-2 victory against the Hamilton Rage on Wednesday afternoon. Playing in only her second W-League game at the tender age of 17, McNicoll opened the scoring on a perfect 25-yard shot. McNicoll stepped inside the defender and drove the ball into the top corner past the Hamilton keeper’s outstretched arms. Zakiya McIntosh added a second for the Lynx with a well-placed shot in the bottom corner of the net after a great pass from Exeter, but Hamilton scored just before half time to make the score 2-1 at the break. Hamilton then scored the equalizer early in the second half with a shot that was deflected by a Toronto defender and past Toronto keeper Victoria Mucilli who was left wrong-footed. But Mucilli was integral to the moment that saw the Lynx grab victory as she saw Exeter one-on-one with a defender and quickly kicked the ball down the middle. Exeter, who was named the Big East Rookie of the Year last fall, headed the ball over the Hamilton keeper for what proved to be the game-winner. The Lady Lynx next play Laval on Sunday at 1 p.m.
