SC TORONTO RECOVER FROM 2-0 DEFICIT TO WIN 4-2 AT BRAMPTON THURSDAY SC Toronto came back from a 2-goal deficit to defeat Brampton City Utd 4-2 at Victoria Park in Brampton, the only game played in the Canadian Soccer League Thursday night. The league leaders jumped into a 7-point lead as a result of the come-from-behind win, followed in second place by Toronto Croatia which has a game in hand. Brampton striker Richard West put the home team into a commanding position when he struck the opening two goals at seven minutes, then 17 minutes and it was the Brampton forward’s 15th and 16th goals of the season to lead the CSL First Division goalscoring title race. Andrea Lombardo cut the Brampton lead to 2-1 when he scored for the visitors at the 26th minute mark and SC Toronto defender Jamaal Smith tied the game when he found the net past Brampton goalkeeper Roy Blanche 20 minutes later. Alexandros Halis put the Toronto team into a 3-2 lead with a goal at 56th minutes, his seventh of the season and midfielder David Guzman beat Blanche to score the fourth goal at 69 minutes, a 4-2 score at the final whistle. Referee David Barrie pulled out his red card three times in the game, sending off Brampton’s David Velastagui at 78 minutes, then Douglas Sereti of SC Toronto immediately afterwards, both for Violent Conduct, and this was followed by the dismissal of SC Toronto’s Casey Dmelo at 87 minutes for Serious Foul Play. Brampton City Utd are still bidding for a playoff spot and are presently in eighth position in the standings with 30 points, with seven games to play.
