BRALETIC HAT-TRICK IN SERBIAN EAGLES ROMP WHILE ASTROS TIE WITH TFC AND MONTREAL HELD BY LONDON Last minute goals can be cruel when you are sitting at the bottom of the standings searching for the first win and never was that more demonstrated than with North York Astros in a 1-1 tie with TFC Academy in CSL action Friday night. London City held First Division leaders Montreal Impact Academy to the same 1-1 score and in one other game, a hat-trick by Alex Braletic helped his Serbian White Eagles to a 7-1 trouncing of St. Catharines Wolves, three games in the CSL. Braletic opened the scoring for Serbian Eagles at the 5th minute mark at Centennial Stadium, he struck his second at 40 minutes and completed the hat-trick just after the interval. Other goals by the home side came from midfielder Kirie Dimitrov at the 29th minute mark, a goal by Viktor Anastasov at 71 minutes and two goals by Serbian White Eagles youth player, 17 year old Sasa Vukoje who rounded out the scoring at in his first game for the First Division side. St. Catharines Wolves’ player-coach Carlo Arghittu scored the lone goal for the visitors at 65 minutes after coming on as a substitute. It was a crushing blow for North York Astros at Lamport Stadium when after leading 1-0 for most of the game following a gritty and determined effort to win their first game of the campaign, TFC Academy tied the score with just seconds remaining. The tying goal came from a thumping header inside the box by league-leading scorer Stefan Vukovic, his 10th goal of the season. The Astros opened the scoring, a goal by forward Nordo Gooden at 24 minutes for a 1-0 lead at half-time. Both sides came close to scoring as the game moved through the second half and there were spectacular saves by North York goalkeeper Enea Perego who helped maintain the lead until Vukovic’s goal in the 94th minute. London City suffered a similar fate on their home ground at Cove Road when after leading 1-0 against the league leaders Montreal Impact Academy on a goal at 52 minutes by Michael Marcoccia. The goal came followed a scoreless first half during which London’s Younan Samra drove a shot on the underside of the crossbar at 39 minutes, but the ball stayed out. Montreal tied the score in added time on a goal by midfielder Bastien Bourgault to give the league-leading Montreal Impact Academy an extended 10-game unbeaten streak and a 2-point lead over second place York Region Shooters in the standings.
