SERBIAN EAGLES BATTLE TO SCORELESS TIE WITH YORK SHOOTERS FRIDAY - London City vs. Brampton City Utd off. Saturday, May 28, 2011 Serbian White Eagles and York Region Shooters played to a scoreless tie at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke Friday night, the only game played in the Canadian Soccer League following the postponement of the London City vs. Brampton City Utd game due to wet ground conditions. It was an end to end encounter between the two teams that have generally been contenders for league championship honours over the past four seasons, two teams that have already met this season when Serbian White Eagles came out on top with a 1-0 victory on May 8. Friday night’s game could have gone either way, but good goalkeeping by Camilo Benzi of York Region Shooters kept the home team off the scoreboard despite good efforts from Alex Braletic after 30 minutes and Nikola Milosevic at 88 minutes. Milos Djurkovic in the Serbian goal also played well while opportunities by an always dangerous forward Kadian Leckie and Jason De Thomasis could have brought a different result in favour of York Region Shooters.Mirko Medic was also strong in the Serbian White Eagles defence. Serbian White Eagles are back at Centennial Stadium on Sunday night in a clash with Toronto Croatia, while York Region Shooters return to Maple to host CSL champions Brantford Galaxy Sunday evening.
