Halftime Entertainment is once again Jack Astor's "Eye for the lame guy" where a fan gets a makeover and comes back out dressed with TFC gear. Also there's a Carlsberg Beer carton kick over where teams of fans try to knock empty cartons of beer off a bench with a soccer ball. Three teams of two missed every one of their kicks and they had to settle the winner with a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors. Fans were booing as these were supposed to be teams that had won semi-finals of other carton kick contests. Winning team won a trip to Las Vegas.

Attendance was announced 20902. The crowd started off at much lower than that but the seats gradually filled in while the game wore on as people arrived after work.
The Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was forward Pablo Vitti. This was his first goal as a member of TFC although he has been there right from the start of the season. One goal in all this many games with all the chances he gets is not good enough to be a starter. Will the new signing Ali Gerba, a Canadian International (and former player of the Toronto Lynx when they were in USL Division 1) be the player who displaces him?
Before the game the Voyageurs Cup was presented to Toronto FC for their winning of the Nutrilife Canadian Championship against USL 1 teams Vancouver Whitecaps and Montreal Impact. TFC had an identical record but had a better goals average than Vancouver. The trophy was given to captain Jim Brennan and player Dwayne DeRosario by Voyageurs member Rudi Schuller. I helped finance the purchase of that trophy eight years ago. Montreal had won the trophy in the previous seven years. I was figuring I had paid for somewhere between 3 to 5% of the cost but I'll never get within 80 yards of it now. The fans tonight, along with their other songs, sang a one-worder--"Championaires" in honour of their victory.
Their were no in-stadium announcements of why TFC wore pink uniforms tonight. While I found out later it was for Breast Cancer Awareness the rumour near my section was for either that or because we were in the middle of Pride Week.
Before and during the teams pre-game workout, Red Bull players Albert Celades and Macoumba Kandji run around and around the perimeter of the field. Neither of them were listed as a substitute for tonight's game.
TFC finally found a team they could beat again as the struggling Red Bulls hadn't won a road game since last year and are below them in the standings. This was the second time they have beat this team within the last ten days. Great scheduling to play a team when they are in a slump although the earlier game was actually moved up from August to make room from the international friendly against Real Madrid. The result slingshots TFC up to second place in the Eastern Conference standings.
TFC is now away from BMO Field until July 18th as they have to play some road games and have a week off sometime in between.
