1st Half:...game starts 4:07pm...TFC defend south end on this cool late afternoon. It is overcast but the sun breaks out at various times. There's been a pregame rain but it had stopped. A harder rain started right at the time of the playing of the national anthems and a stong wind blows from the north as the rain gets worse.
3 min...CC player's pass down left wing runs too far upfield for charging CC Rogers to stop ball from rolling over end line.
5 min...TFC Robinson gets by CC defender when defender slips at CC 30 yards near left sideline but Robinson bends in low cross that rolls to goalie.
7 min...CC Ekpo cross from right from 22 yards deflects off players in center on edge of box and CC Rogers gets off balance shot from 15 yards on left that deflects off TFC Wynne for cornerkick.

Attendance was not announced but the league showed 19998. The crowd fled twice during the first half in the two bouts of rain we had plus the one at the start of the second half. (0 to 11 minutes, 23 to 32 minutes, and 46 to 49 minutes. The rain may have scared off some of the walk up crowd from coming. The weather was cool and windy but there were periods of bright sunshine between the bouts of rain.
TFC warmed up on the south west side of the field this game so it was tougher for me to see the starters up close.
The TFC starters were exactly the same as the midweek game with even the substitution list being the same as the last game except that midfielder Dwayne DeRosario was back from his hamstring injury and got into the game at the start of the second half to relieve Danny Dichio.
Columbus Crew were supposedly missing seven players due to injury and suspension. They had back up goalie Ben Dragavon from the MLS list. He was the reserve goalie for Seattle in the TFC season opener one month ago.
Chris Cummins was on the bench tonight officially named now as the head coach.
The Carlsberg Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was midfielder Sam Cronin. His play was good including setting up the TFC goal but I would have given the award to goalie Stefan Frei. He had much more to do in this game then the two shutouts he earned during the last week. His huge save at 77 minutes was a game saver. Frei had 8 shots on goal to deal with and the Crew goalie had only 2. Before the game started Frei was presented the Esquire (watch maker) Player of the Month Award for his work during April.
Next up for TFC is another home game. This one is Wednesday May 6th at 8:00pm against Vancouver Whitecaps as the first game in the 2009 Nutrilife Canadian Championship. On the line is a berth in the Concacaf championship against teams from North and Central America. Last year Toronto lost their home game to the Whitecaps and that was a big reason why Montreal Impact qualified. This year's home game is almost two months ahead of when they played last year and Vancouver has had less games than TFC as their season started within the last three weeks. Whitecaps will move up to the MLS in time for the 2011 season.

Crew travelling fans were all ticketed into Section 104. This was some post game shouting between TFC fans below and Crew fans held into the stands until the game emptied. They were escorted to their seats before TFC fans were allowed admission before the game. The police are in the stands.
