The Reds trained at the Wizards' Swope Park Training Centre on Thursday night and again on Friday as coach John Carver puts the finishing touches to preparations for the game.

Carver has been pleased with the way preseason has gone for his side. "I've had quite a few preseasons now and I rould rate this as one of the best I have had, and certainly one of the most enjoyable," he said.

The Reds coach knows his side must improve on their away record from last season when they won just three times on the road. "One of my goals for the season is to pick up points on the road and I need to put a team out there to do that. We have got stronger characters and leaders in the dressing room now and hopefully that will help us."

"It would have been nice to start at home, but that's not possible because of the weather. We have to play everyone home and away during the season so we just have to make sure we do our job well and get off to a good start," said Carver.

Defender Adrian Serioux is rated as probable after missing training earlier this week due to injury. Nana Attakora-Gyan didn't travel with the team as he is ruled out with a hip flexor.
