PONTIAC, MI - The Michigan Bucks moved their season record to 3-1-1 on Sunday with their third consecutive shutout win when they blanked the Toronto Lynx at Ultimate Soccer Arenas. The Bucks had the better of the possession and chances in the fast paced first half, but could not get anything past Lynx Brandon Heembrock, who made seven saves in the opening 45 minutes of play. Meanwhile, at the other end of the pitch, Bucks goalkeeper Steve Clark made four saves in each half to register his third clean sheet of the season. Clark made two spectacular saves in the first half to keep the score level but really stepped up late in the game to insure the home team victory.

Bucks forward Mauro Fuzetti (Houston, TX/ University of Michigan) continued his outstanding play up top for the Bucks and created several first half opportunities that should have been finished by his strike partners. After missing two open goals from close range, the Bucks finally got on the board in the 63rd minute when second half substitute Tony Walls (Wauwatosa, WI/ UW- Green Bay) made an immediate impact by crashing the goal and finishing a Jake Stacy free kick from the top of the box. The goal was Walls first of his brief Bucks career. Stacy, on the other hand, continues to come on strong in his second campaign with the Bucks and had a hand in creating several great second half scoring chances.

The last ten minutes of the game saw end to end action while the Lynx tried desperately to tie the match and the Bucks did the same trying to get the all important second goal to put the game away. Stacy may have had the best opportunity in the 75th minute when he found himself in alone on the Heembrock, but slammed his effort off the goal post. Stacy would finally redeem himself in the 89th minute when he converted a close range cross from substitute Stefan St. Louis (Trinidad/ Oakland) to put the game out of reach.

The Bucks now turn their attention to Thursday’s rematch with the Indiana Invaders at Ultimate Soccer Arenas (7:30 kickoff). The Bucks came away with a hard fought 1-0 win in South Bend on Memorial Day that saw the Invaders collect seven yellow cards and two red cards in the match. Tickets for Thursday’s match are $10 Adults and $6 Youth (under 16).

The Michigan Bucks will be collecting used soccer equipment to donate to third world countries at the ticket window, clean out your equipment closest and recieve a $5 ticket at the gate.
