Match Summary:

The Toronto Lady Lynx returned to the win column in style this afternoon, posting a 7-0 whitewashing of the visiting Rochester Ravens at Oshawa Civic Stadium. Tiffany Cameron, Adrienne Ruhe Lischke and Stefania Morra each netted a pair of goals in the victory, while Clair Rustad added her first goal as a Lady Lynx to round out the scoring. Justine Bernier earned the clean sheet for Toronto between the posts. The win vaults the Lady Lynx back atop the Great Lakes Division with a 2-0-2 (8 points) record, while the Ravens drop to 0-4-0 on the young season. Toronto swept the season series between the two clubs, having defeated the Ravens 4-0 in Rochester on opening night two weeks ago.

Toronto took the attack to their visitors from the opening whistle onward, and potted three first-half goals despite playing into a fierce northerly wind. Rustad opened the scoring in the 5th minute, converting a Lexi Marton feed to put the Lady Lynx up 1-0 early.

The rookie Cameron then took over the match, scoring twice in six minutes to give Toronto a formidable 3-0 lead going into the break. Rustad sent the forward in alone on the keeper in the 27th minute, and Cameron converted for her second of the year. Cameron then slotted home a solo effort in the 33rd minute, and the Lady Lynx never looked back.

The second frame saw two half-time substitutes star. Morra and Ruhe Lischke both making their season debuts, each scored twice to pace the Lady Lynx to their second victory of the year. Ruhe Lischke notched goals in the 64th and 82nd minute, while Morra found the net in the 75th and 79th minutes, making the final 7-0 for the hosts. Toronto outshot the Ravens 37-9 on the afternoon, a new team high.

The Lady Lynx victory capped off a busy day of soccer action at the Oshawa Civic Stadium. The W-League game was the feature event of Celebrating Durham Women in Soccer Day, which also featured a 4v4 tournament and a youth skills clinic earlier in the afternoon. Proceeds from the day benefitted the YWCA of Durham.

The Lady Lynx hit the road for their next four matches, with stops this weekend in Ottawa and Quebec City. The team will return home on Sunday, June 21 at 4:00 PM versus the expansion Buffalo Flash at Centennial Park Stadium. The Flash have jumped out to a torrid 2-0-0 start to the season and look poised to challenge the Lady Lynx and the Ottawa Fury for supremacy in the Great Lakes Division. Tickets for the match may be purchased by calling the Lynx ticket hotline at 416-251-4625 x 31, or at the Centennial Park Stadium box office one hour prior to kickoff.
