2009 TORONTO LADY LYNX SCHEDULE RELEASED

Tuesday January 27, 2009 (Toronto, ON) The Toronto Lady Lynx announced their 2009 schedule today, the first step for the club in their fifth W-League campaign. The Lady Lynx will play one pre-season match before embarking on a 14 game regular-season schedule, with one home and one away match against each of the other seven teams in the newly re-named Great Lakes Division.

The Lady Lynx will kick off the year with their annual School Day match on Thursday, May 14 at 11:00 AM at Varsity Centre in downtown Toronto, a preseason encounter against the London Gryphons. Two nights later, the team will open the regular season with a visit to Rochester to tackle the rebranded Western New York FC Lions at 7:00 PM.

Toronto opens their regular-season home schedule the following weekend, on Saturday May 23 at 7:30 PM against the London Gryphons at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan, the first of two “Lynxfest” matches for the Lady Lynx in the local soccer community in 2009. The team will then make their annual trek to Oshawa on Sunday May 31 for the “Celebrating Durham Women in Soccer” festivities, and a 4:00 PM encounter with Western New York at Oshawa Civic Stadium. Full details of the “Lynxfest” events will be announced over the next few months.

The Lady Lynx will then take to the road for five matches following the two “Lynxfest” matches, with trips to London (May 27), Ottawa (June 6), Quebec City (June 7), Buffalo (June 14), and Hamilton (June 17). The Lynx wrap up their travel schedule on Canada Day in Laval with a 4:00 PM clash, where they will look to avenge their shocking 2008 first-round playoff loss against the Comets.

The team will return home to the friendly confines of the freshly re-surfaced Centennial Park Stadium for the remainder of their home schedule starting on Sunday June 21, hosting the expansion Buffalo Flash at 4:00 PM. The team will then host Laval on the popular yearly “Youth Day” matinee on July 8 at 11:00 AM. The Lady Lynx will close the season with 3 home games during the final week of the season, starting with a visit by arch-rival Ottawa on Sunday July 12 at 1:00 PM; a rare Thursday night battle against Hamilton at 7:30 PM on July 16, and a season-ending encounter with the expansion Quebec City Arsenal on Saturday, July 18 at 4:00 PM.

Season tickets and tickets for all games will be available starting Monday, February 2 by contacting the Lady Lynx ticket hotline at 416-251-4625 x 31 or by emailing tickets@lynxsoccer.com. The full schedule is listed below, and is available at www.lynxsoccer.com.

The Toronto Lynx men’s PDL schedule is expected to be announced later this week.
