The two finalists from last year’s CSL Championship game - Serbian White Eagles and Trois-Rivieres Attak - both advanced to this season’s playoff semi-finals following their second leg quarter-final victories Saturday afternoon.

Serbian White Eagles eliminated TFC Academy with a 4-1 win at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke Saturday, following 1-0 victory on September 27. The games were a 2-leg quarter-finals, a points aggregate over the two games.

Trois-Rivieres advanced with a 1-0 win over Portugal FC at Trois-Rivieres, a game decided on a penalty kick and this followed a 3-0 Attak victory in the first leg played in Toronto on September 26.

TFC Academy opened the scoring on a goal scored from the penalty spot at the 25th minute by forward Allando Metheson. The penalty was awarded by referee David Barrie following a foul in the box.

It took just one minute for Serbian White Eagles to get on even terms, a goal by Jonathan Hurtis for a 1-1score at half-time. This was followed in the second half by two goals by Eagles’ forward Sasa Viciknez, both from free kicks. He found the net at 47 minutes and again at 63 minutes for a 3-1 lead and it was midfielder Adrian Tismenar who completed the scoring, a 4-1 outcome at the 74th minute mark.

Trois-Rivieres’ forward Yannik Rome-Gosselin scored the only goal of the match in the second leg game with Portugal FC. Rome Gosselin beat goalkeeper Mike Silva from the penalty spot at the 27th minute mark, a penalty awarded by referee Jonathan Lavergme after Silva impeded Chris-Michel Rumuri while he was closing in on goal.
