SERBIAN WHITE EAGLES DEFEAT TORONTO CROATIA TO WIN INTERNATIONAL DIVISION......St. Catharines Wolves triumph 4-3 over Italia Shooters.....

All match-ups for the CSL playoffs were decided following a Serbian White Eagles 2-1 victory over Toronto Croatia and a St. Catharines Wolves 4-3 win over Italia Shooters, two games that concluded the regular season in the Canadian Soccer League on Sunday.

“We expect to go on and win the championship again,” declared a jubilant Dragan Bakoc, Serbian White Eagles president while praising his team and newly appointed head coach Dusko Prijic for the strong showing in defeating Toronto Croatia at Toronto’s Lamport Stadium.

Serbian White Eagles will meet TFC Academy in the first round of the playoffs as a result of Sunday’s win.

Kiril Dimitrov opened the scoring for Serbia at the 18th minute mark, followed by the tying goal by Toronto Croatia’s Ainsley Deer at 35 minutes. Jonathan Hurtis struck the winner at 50 minutes for the 2-1 final score.

St. Catharines Wolves vaulted into the runner-up position in the National Division as a result of the 4-3 win over Italia Shooters at Maple and the two teams will meet again in the quarter-finals.

Midfielder Scott MacLennan opened the scoring for St. Catharines at the 14th minute mark and Matthew Cain made it 2-0 five minutes later.

Italia’s Ilya Orlov reduced the lead to 2-1 at 24 minutes and scored again, from the penalty spot to make it 2-2 at 33 minutes.

Blake Ordell put Italia in front 3-2 at 62 minutes, Stefan Kamendy equalized for the Garden City team at 77 minutes and Simon Murphy struck the winner for St. Catharines, a 4-3 final score.

Games for the opening round of the playoffs begin Friday, September 25 and will be:
Portugal FC vs. Trois-Rivieres Attak
Serbian White Eagles vs. TFCAcademy
St. Catharines Wolves vs. Italia Shooters
Toronto Croatia vs. Brampton Lions

The venues will be announced the week September 21. The return games in the 2-leg home and away series will be played October 2 – 4, with the two-leg semi-finals October 9 -11 and October 16 – 18 and the CSL Championship Final will be played October 24.
