SERBIAN WHITE EAGLES JUMP TO FIRST PLACE WITH 3-1 VICTORY OVER ST. CATHARINES WOLVES...........Viciknez leads the way with two goals

Serbian White Eagles took over the top spot in the International Division with a 3-1 victory over St. Catharines Wolves at Centennial Stadium, the only game in the Canadian Soccer League Friday night.

Serbia forward Sasa Viciknez led the way with two goals for the home side, which played for the entire second half with 10 men following the ejection of goalkeeper Marko Petrovic just before half time.

Midfielder Tony Mermigas opened the scoring at 21 minutes for St. Catharines Wolves and the Garden City side kept the lead until the 32nd minute mark when Viciknez found the net when he struck a free kick from 20 yards.

It was the 7th goal of the season for Viciknez and it was 10 minutes later that referee Manual Orellana ejected Serbia goalkeeper Marko Petrovic who brought down an opposing forward outside of the penalty box.

Viciknez followed up with a second strike, his eighth of the season at the 75th. minute mark, giving Serbian White Eagles a 2-1 lead while playing a man short.

Forward Kiril Dimitrov scored two minutes later to give Serbian Eagles a 3-1 lead which held until the final whistle.

Serbia take over the International Division with a 9-2-2 WLT record for 29 points, just one point in front of Toronto Croatia, both teams have played 13 games. St. Catharines Wolves are now at 3-4-7 for 16 points in the National Division.
