TFC Academy fell to a 1-0 defeat against league leaders Toronto Croatia at Centennial Stadium in the Canadian Soccer League. Toronto Croatia got off to a flying start in only the third minute of play when they won possession in midfield and quickly attacked by releasing striker Tihomir Maletic who shot past Soitiri Varlokostas from close range for the early lead. TFC had plenty of possession but failed to create any clear cut chances. "The opposition were resilient in defence and did not give away much," said TFC Academy Head Coach Jason Bent. "The match was a very fiercely contested match but a lack of goalmouth action resulted in a real midfield battle for the majority of the match."

"Toronto Croatia is a very good team and they move the ball exceptionally well. Mentally we have let ourselves down again with a slow start and against quality opposition it becomes increasingly difficult to get back into the match after gifting the opposition with a one goal head start. The match was marred by the serious injury suffered by a Toronto Croatia midfielder. TFC Academy would like to wish the player a speedy recovery and our hope is that the player returns to full fitness as soon as possible. Football is such a physical game and no one likes to see a colleague suffer a serious injury."
