Italia rally falls just short in 3-2 home loss to Toronto Croatia while TFC Academy make second half recovery to tie Brampton Lions, 2-2.

TFC Academy bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to tie Brampton Lions 2-2 and Toronto Croatia scored a 3-2 victory over Italia Shooters, two games played in the CSL Sunday.

Brampton Lions’ captain Alex Arbello was a dominant force in the home side’s attack in a well-played entertaining encounter played at Victoria Park in Brampton. After breaking through at the 6th minute mark he struck the crossbar with TFC Academy goalkeeper Soitiri Varlokostas well beaten.

Arbello put his team 1-0 up from a free kick at 31 minutes for a 1-0 lead at half-time and he added a second to make it 2-0 after cutting in from the left wing and scoring just inside the post.

TFC Academy fought back in the second half and were rewarded with a goal at 68 minutes with a goal by striker Allando Matheson and the academy team drew level with an equalizer at 81 minutes by midfielder Matt Stinson.

Toronto Croatia jumped into a 3-0 first half lead over Italia Shooters in the second game played Sunday at Maple. Halburto Harris struck the opening goal at 35 minutes and striker Hugo Hererra made it 2-0 nine minutes later.

Croatia defender Mario Pupic increased the lead to 3-0 when he scored from the penalty spot just before the interval.

Italia Shooters pressed to get back into the game during the second half and forward Vince Forestieri found the net for the home side at the 60th minute mark and just three minutes later Shooters’ midfielder Joey Todaro cut the lead to 3-2. Croatia held on to that score to the final whistle.
