Canadian international Julian De Guzman was at BMO Field on Tuesday getting treatment for a knee injury from Toronto FC medical staff. Toronto coach John Carver was pleased to help the Canadian Soccer Association by providing De Guzman with the opportunity to make use of the club's staff and facilities.
"I want to try and help the CSA as much as I can," said Carver. "Hopefully in the long run they will help us as well. I want us to work together. We want the best for the game in Canada. There has to be give and take. We should all be working together."
De Guzman plays for Deportivo in Spain's La Liga. He scored for Canada in the 3-2 defeat against Brazil in Seattle on Saturday and then headed to Toronto.
"Julian had a knee injury and we said we would look after him and give him the best attention that we can, as if he was one of our players. It is in everyone's best interests for us to all work together. We want to help the national team, and we also want the national team to help us.
"Nick Dasovic is now the assistant to the national team, as well as working here, and that can only be good for communication. I hope the communication between us and the CSA can develop further. In England, the clubs have a good relationship with the national team and that's how I want things to be here," Carver explained.
