Attendance was about 100 on this cool overcast and windy day. The game went from misty rain, to bluster, then had the sun come out at different times. About 15 hardcore TFC supporters and the rest schoolchildren made up the crowd. I asked a teacher on the way out what the kids meant when they said they paid $6.00 to come here. The teacher said he’d written the head office and they were allowed in—the $6.00 was the cost of the transportation here today. Still it’s a long way from the over 1200 I saw yesterday for the W-League Toronto Lady Lynx game.

Toronto FC staff was bragging to the papers about having no injuries this year but that streak may have ended when Jeff Cunningham was injured on the edge of the DCU box at 57 minutes and had to be helped off behind the net with what appeared to be a leg injury. Joey Melo took his place four minutes later. Pat Phelan took two hard knocks and Julius James and Nana Attakora-Gyan another each but they were able to shake them off. Dan Stratford for DCU was injured at 21 minutes and needed to be helped from the field and was subbed.

I wondered about the scheduling of this game because the main teams played last night and are scheduled for a rematch on Saturday. Some players could be playing two games in three days. From the Reserves schedule I remember reading; the teams have another Reserves game against each other on Sunday (teams’ only play 12 Reserves games per year). That’s getting to know your opponents well

So Andrea Lombardo scored! I wouldn’t be in such a rush to bring him up to the main team as he scored on one of his maybe ten chances. He pushed a few balls too far and missed with some of his passes.

I liked Nana Attakora-Gyan’s play today. Strong on defense and he comes up into the box to play offensive cornerkicks because of his height and jumping ability. Good passing skills too.

As in the last Reserves game on Saturday, Tyler Rosenlund took all the cornerkicks.

Quavas Kirk had worn the captain’s armband for DC United in the second half taking over from Mark Burch. Hey Captain Kirk!

Silviu Petrescu was the referee in today’s game. He was the fourth official in last night’s game.
