Match Summary:

The Toronto Lady Lynx wrapped up a lengthy four-game stretch of road matches tonight with a tough 2-1 victory over the previously undefeated Laval Comets. The Lady Lynx (7-0-1, 22 points) extend their lead atop the Northern Division to 7 points over the Comets, and are off to their best-ever start to a W-League season. Toronto also sits tied with the FC Indiana Lioness with the best record in the Central Conference. Laval drops to 5-1-0 (15 points) on the season, and remain in second place in the division.

Brittany Bisnott's first-half goal, her third in three games, staked the Lady Lynx to an early 1-0 lead. Fellow Bramptonian Alicia Donaldson doubled the lead for Toronto early in the second half, her team-leading fifth on the season, giving the Lady Lynx a 2-nil advantage.

Laval were not about to quit, and battled fiercely to get back into the match. The Comets cut the lead to one midway through the second half, and continued to pressure throughout the remainder of the match, but Elise Kuhar-Pitters made a number of huge saves to protect the lead and the defense showed tremendous grit and tenacity to seal the victory.

Toronto now returns to Toronto to open up a five-game home-stand this Sunday, June 22, with a highly-anticipated rematch against their bitter rivals the Ottawa Fury at 4:00 PM at Varsity Centre. The Lady Lynx recorded their first-ever victory over the Fury last Sunday in Ottawa.
