Attendance was about 300 people. A pre-game thunderstorm may have cut into the gate. The rain continued into the warm up but stopped before the game started and didn’t have an effect on the game except that the field was slippery so there were a few sliding tackles and slip ups on defensive assignments.
White Eagles looked the better team throughout the game really limiting the Attak on shots on goal until near the end when the Attak almost got the equalizer. At 84 minutes, TRA Jean Louis Besse got a through ball on right when a defender slipped at the 25 yard line and Besse hit the right goalpost from 10 yards and the defenders were able to clear. At 88 minutes, a TRA player’s shot from the right had the flying goalie Dan Pelc push the ball wide left of the post and then TRA Elkana Mayard take a 7 yard shot from the left that had Pelc while still down get a hand to it and a defender clear. Last chance for the Attak was at 91 minutes when TRA Massimo Di Joia crossed into the box from the left and TRA Nicolas Lesage miss on a bicycle kick on the right side of the box from 5 yards.
White Eagles once again this week used Dragan Radovic as their lone striker with at least five midfielders. I thought he was tiring with all that running around and may have been why he missed the Penalty kick. Radovic was finally subbed off at 88 minutes by forward Ihekwoaba Princ. Striker Sasa Viciknez and midfielder Nikola Budalic missed their second game in a row but hopefully will be back next week as they’ll improve the team. New to the team from last week is former North York Astros midfielder/striker Diego Maradona although he stayed on the bench for this game.
Attak only brought three subs tonight and one of them was a back up goalie. That’s somewhat low for this farm team of the USL Montreal Impact. They have a game in St Catharines on Sunday so hopefully they can bring reinforcements.
This game could easily be a prequel to the Playoff Final in October although Italia Shooters may be in the mix. The Attak are far ahead in the National Division while the White Eagles are in second in the International Division.
