Attendance was announced as 13554. The upper deck on the West side ie. the 200's were not put on sale. There were other empty places on the East side. Let's hope the local papers claiming a near sell out a week before didn't scare off the potential walk-up crowd. A majority of the crowd were cheering for Canada but there were plenty of Brazilian fans.

Canada started out very well controlling the game for the first ten minutes. Brazil got some chances after that but they were from long range and easy to control. The second half could have gone either way as both teams could have won. Canadian Melissa Tancredi bent over to head a ball near the center line and Brazilian Erika kicked her in the face breaking her nose. Tancredi in an interview after the game said this was the fifth time that she's had her nose broken. She was subbed in within five minutes but Canada scored from the resulting freekick.

As seen on video replays over the next few days, the Brazilian goal was offside. There was one defender between the scorer and the goal which is usually enough to negate an offside but the goalie was off her line and behind the play so the play was offside after all.
