COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- For the second consecutive year, the Colorado Rapids reserves are champions of the MLS Reserve Division. The Rapids reserves defeated the Toronto FC reserves in a convincing 3-0 win on Sunday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. "It was a great [win]," said defender Jordan Harvey, the Rapids' first-round pick in the 2006 Supplemental Draft. "We did it last year and this year we brought back the core players as well as new players. The coaching staff is great at scouting young talent."

The win gave the Rapids a 7-0-3 record through 10 games in the Reserve Division, guaranteeing they cannot be caught even though they still have two games left to play.

Colorado threatened a number of times in the first half but could not find the back of the net. Jose Cancela had a good free kick saved by Srdjan Djekanovic, then just after the break, Nicolas Hernandez hit the post.

Harvey put the Rapids up 1-0 in the 65th minute when he smashed home a Cancela free kick that was helped on by Stephen Keel.

The lead was doubled by Jose Cancela in the 78th minute when he headed home a cross, then Nico Colacula capped the match when he chipped Djekanovic 10 minutes later for the 3-0 final.

"We always come with the right attitude," said Harvey. "Coach [John] Murphy gets us ready to go and we brought that attitude today. The victory is great."

The Rapids were presented with the 2007 MLS Reserve Division Cup on the field during a ceremony after the game.
