Toronto FC set to unveil its panoramic field of dreams

As the wind whipped through a TV booth at BMO Field yesterday scuttling ceiling tiles, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment official Bob Hunter reckoned that closing the windows was the wiser option.

"And it is never windy and cold here," deadpanned Hunter. "Never. ... So much for our ceiling tiles."

Indeed, some nights at BMO Field might have Torontonians fondly – and not so fondly – recalling past days watching the Blue Jays and Argos at Exhibition Stadium.

Toronto's first-ever soccer designated stadium is ready for its unveiling Saturday when Toronto FC hosts the K.C. Wizards, only 15 months after the shovel went into the ground of a former parking lot at Exhibition Place.

The environs are cozy, most games will be sellouts, and the food is unique – only 10 of 50 items tested on a trial group made the cut. (Among the rejections – grilled sardines.)

Now if the weather would just cooperate.

"We're praying for great weather," said Hunter. "Praying."

If the weather's really bad, Toronto FC does have a foosball game in their dressing room. They could probably score playing that.
