TORONTO — Injured midfielder Ronnie O'Brien still hopes to take part in Toronto FC's home opener next Saturday at BMO Field.

"I'm hoping," he said Sunday at BMO Field where Toronto FC held a workout. "I might not start but I'm hoping to be involved in the game at some point."

O'Brien suffered strained ligaments in his right knee in a workout at BMO Field on April 3. He also injured the knee in late February in an exhibition game in Sunrise, Fla.

O'Brien will work out Monday wearing a knee brace that he has been told to try. "It's a bit unorthodox but whatever gets you back on the field," he said. "At this stage I'll wear a skirt to get back on the field."

Toronto FC plays the Kansas City Wizards on the road on Wednesday and the teams play a return match at BMO Field Saturday.

Toronto FC has lost the first two games in its first Major League Soccer season.
