Toronto FC head coach Mo Johnston confirmed yesterday that the team had acquired second-year defender Marvell Wynne from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a second-round pick in next year's draft.

The team hasn't officially announced the trade but Johnston said yesterday morning that Wynne was already meeting with immigration officials.

The coach said Wynne, a 20-year-old who played at UCLA, would join the team today along with newly signed striker Daniele Dichio, and play in next Wednesday's game in Kansas City.

Wynne, the son of former San Diego Padre Marvell Wynne, played his rookie season under Johnston in New York. He recorded three assists in 26 games, but was benched for New York's second game this year. Acquiring Wynne gives Toronto the top pick in each of the last two drafts. In January Toronto selected Maurice Edu first overall, and last year New York traded up to take Wynne.
