Toronto's newest professional sports team -- Toronto FC -- yesterday announced it has sold out its season ticket packages for the team's inaugural Major League Soccer home games.

"We've had phenomenal momentum since launching Toronto FC last May and the response we've got with respect to season seat sales tells us that soccer fans across the GTA are excited about their new team," said Tom Anselmi, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd., which owns the franchise.

Anselmi also said that all of the luxury suites at the new BMO field at Exhibition Place have been sold.

NEW PROGRAM

The team now will launch a program to sell the remaining tickets for the 20,000 seat stadium through half-season deals.

"A premium pack and an international pack will go on sale April 2 ," the team said in a release.

The premium pack will include the Aug. 5 game against the Los Angeles Galaxy where David Beckham is expected to play his first regular season MLS match.

"We're confident that fans will see some great soccer at affordable prices and our half season ticket packages provide flexibility and variety to satisfy the growing appetite for professional soccer in Toronto," Anselmi said.

The international pack includes all of FC's international friendly matches and five regular-season matches against MLS teams. Premium and international Packs can be purchased by phone at (416) 360-GOAL (4625) or online at www.torontofc.ca.

Toronto will play its first game at BMO Field on April 28.
