Toronto FC had a day off on Sunday and had an off day on Monday as they were held to a 0-0 draw by the U.S. under-17 team at IMG Academy.

Toronto had a few first-half chances and Edson Buddle did find the back of the net but the play was ruled offside.

Carl Robinson crossed to Alecko Eskandarian, but his header was saved.

Head coach Mo Johnston made an early substitution with A.J Gray coming on for Chris Pozniak in the 24th minute. Pozniak did return early in the second half, however.

Greg Sutton started the game in goal for Toronto and was rarely tested.

Jon Busch replaced him during a mass substitution 15 minutes into the half.

Andrea Lombardo's effort hit the post.

"We played like an expansion team today," Johnston said. "We weren't good enough."

Missing from the Toronto lineup with injuries were Marco Reda (quadriceps), Conor Casey (quadriceps), Ronnie O'Brien (knee) and Abbe Ibrahim (hip flexor).

Toronto will play Notre Dame at the IMG Academy complex on Wednesday.

Toronto FC (4-4-2): Sutton; Brennan, Boyens, Pozniak, Braz; Canizalez, Nagamura, Robinson, Cancela; Buddle, Eskandarian.
Substitutes used: GK Busch; D Hemming, Pozniak, Lumley; MF Asante, Melo; F Lombardo, West.
