SUNRISE, FLA. — Former U.S. national team striker Conor Casey should soon officially be with the Major League Soccer expansion team Toronto FC.

The holdup is basically a formality with procedures at the league's head office.

"He's our player," Toronto FC head coach Mo Johnston said at the hotel where the club is conducting training.

It is just taking time for the process to be completed.

Casey's contract with German club Mainz has been terminated.

"He's a quality player," Johnston said.

Toronto FC had a morning training session Thursday and were to work out again later in the day. The team trains on a soccer field that is on the hotel grounds.

The team will be there for one more day before returning to Toronto on Saturday.

After Thursday morning's workout, Johnston had a meeting with his coaches to discuss a couple of things he was concerned about.

"I like perfection," he said.
