David Beckham of the Los Angeles Galaxy will likely play Toronto FC on Aug. 5 in Toronto.

David Beckham, who recently signed a $250-million deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy, is slated to play his first MLS game against the expansion Toronto FC, according to the league schedule released Tuesday.

The schedule ensures the former England captain visits each city in the league.

Beckham's transfer to the Galaxy was announced in January and he said he would move to the United States once his contract with his current club, Real Madrid, is up June 30.

Though Toronto may be Beckham's first MLS game, it likely won't be his North American debut with the Galaxy.

Los Angeles plays in the SuperLiga, an eight-team exhibition event between MLS and Mexican clubs, in July, and Beckham could make his debut there.

Toronto FC begins inaugural campaign April 7

Tuesday's schedule announcement was full of Beckham hype, but it also marked an important milestone for Toronto FC, Canada's only MLS franchise.

Toronto FC opens its inaugural season April 7 against Chivas USA in Carson, Calif., and plays its first home game at BMO Field on April 28 against head coach Mo Johnston's former team, the Kansas City Wizards.

Toronto will play in the league's seven-team Eastern Conference and will play its divisional opponents three times over the course of the season. The FC will also play the Western Conference's six teams twice each.
