Toronto FC announced Thursday they have selected four more players via the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft.
All players who were eligible for and not selected in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft - held on Friday, January 12th - and additional players nominated by teams were eligible for selection. The original order of the four round MLS Supplemental Draft is determined from the reverse order of finish following the 2006 season.
Toronto FC selected Jarrod Smith (West Virginia University) in the first round, (first overall). Daryl Roberts (Liberty University), second round (14th overall), Hunter West (University South Florida), third round (27th overall), and Tyler Hemming, (Hartwick College), fourth round (40th overall).
Jarrod Smith (West Virginia University) Position: Forward Height: 6-1 Weight: 180 Birthdate: June 20, 1984 (Havelock North, New Zealand) Hometown: Havelock North, New Zealand
Smith,had his best season with West Virginia in 2006 scoring 14 goals, and adding 4 assists in 16 games. He was a M.A.C Hermann Trophy semifinalist, and was named to the NSCAA first team all-Northeast Region, and the first team of the All-Big East.
Internationally, he was a member of the New Zealand U-20 National team.
Daryl Roberts (Liberty University) Position: Forward/Midfielder Height: 6-1 Weight: 170 Birthdate: September 26, 1983 Hometown: Trincity, Trinidad
Roberts is currently a member of the 21 member Trinidad and Tobago team which will challenge for the 2007 Digicel Carribean Cup. Trinidad is hosting the tournament.
Hunter West (University of South Florida) Position: Midfielder/Forward Height: 5-11 Weight: 170 Birthdate: February 13, 1983 Hometown: Bradenton, Florida
West was the leading scorer in each of his first 3 years at USF, and was a 3 time all-conference selection.
Tyler Hemming (Hartwick College) Position: Midfielder Height: 6-0 Weight: 175 Birthdate: May 9, 1985 Hometown: London, ON
In 2006, Hemming lead Hartwick in scoring with 10 goals, and 1 assist helping them to a record of 8-10-2. He was named the 2006 Atlantic Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) Player of the Year, winning the award for the second straight year. Hemming made his debut with the Canadian U-20 in December of 2004.
