On the heels of Thursday's announcement that soccer superstar David Beckham has signed to play for the Los Angeles Galaxy during the 2007 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, Toronto FC sold 1,036 season seats in a 24-hour period to boost its season seat total to the 8,000 mark.

The record-setting rush for Toronto FC tickets resulted in a new pair of season seats sold approximately every three minutes. Beckham's soon-to-be new team the Los Angeles Galaxy will play Toronto FC in Toronto during the second half of the 2007 season. Major League Soccer's complete 2007 season schedule will be released at the end of January.

Toronto FC joined Major League Soccer as its 13th team in 2006 and is the first team outside the United States. Toronto FC will begin play April 2007 at the new 20,000 seat BMO Field at Exhibition Place. For season seat information, please visit www.torontofc.ca.
