For halftime entertainment they had a pizza box race as usual but it was the team's annual mascot game. There looked like there were seven mascots show up from the pregame list of about nine. Sammy Stinger from Seneca College, The Energizer Bunny, Kool Aid Jug, Hugo from White Water Kingdom, the Humber College Hawk, Dough Dude from Pizza Pizza, and the Lynxster played a soccer game at midfield.

Attendance wasn’t announced but was supposed to be 1038 on this very hot and humid afternoon. I estimated about 400 people here.
The game was actually quite even in the first half. Chris Baker earned the shutout for the Lynx and almost all his work was done in the first half when the Invaders threatened to score. At 84 minutes Baker rushed wide right of his net to dive on the ball but he missed and was crushed by an Invader player falling on him and he needed treatment off field. The Lynx currently don’t have a backup goalie on their team. Invaders goaltender Justin Holmes had to be great in the first hour to keep the Lynx off the board. I almost thought he would hold them off (as he was always in the right spot to catch headers or where to dive to block shots) and the Invaders might win on a counterattack. Their backup goalie was listed as head coach Rick King.
This would be a perfect game for the Lynx except they lost Cameron Medwin (who has been a PDL player of the week within the last two weeks) at 24 minutes when he picked up a leg injury and had to be helped off the field. Mickael McNamara came on to replace him.
Sergio DeLuca had played 1 minute career wise for the Lynx in the USL regular season in 2002 but he was back playing a strong game today taking a lot of free kicks and cornerkicks. He shared a record of 1 minute of regular season playing time with 1997 goaltender Roman Harapyn although I remember Harapyn losing a playoff game later that year against Montreal.
The Lynx had beaten the Invaders 2-0 for their first win of the year when the two teams played in Indiana on June 7th. Chris Baker earned the shutout in that game too.
The defence really limited the chances of Saidi Isaac of the Invaders who led their team with six goals. The Lynx this season until today had only scored eight goals.
Speedy but tiny forward Andrew Luttrell was constantly being bumped off the ball before he could get away a shot.
Invaders had played last night in Saginaw Michigan and lost 5-1 to Michigan Bucks. The team was late to the warm up because they were watching the Gold Cup Final between the USA and Mexico at their hotel. Lynx pass the Invaders in the standings by one point into fourth place but Michigan Bucks and Chicago Fire Premier appear to be running away with the two playoff spots in their division.
Tonight’s them was Mascot Day and the costumed ones entertained at halftime in a seven player soccer game. There were fewer players than last year but the team no longer can call on the Raptor or Carleton the Bear who are controlled by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment who own the MLS Toronto FC franchise.
