Attendance was announced as 647. There were less people here than any other year they’ve held their School Day theme matinee day but not all that much then the days of exaggerating their crowd size. I counted 120 kids in the player line and 40 in the choir for the national anthems for on field participants alone. Super fan ‘Mama Lynx’ was there with her school bell and voice to cheer on the team.
Biggest surprise was seeing the Rick Titus as the Lynx captain and anchoring the defence. He said after the game he will be coaching some of the Lynx youth teams this year. He was the 2006 Lynx MVP when they were in the USL First Division.
Another tie for the Lynx after a start of one win and one tie don’t help their playoff chances in their brief 14 game season but today’s opponent was the Central Conference defending champions.
The game was certainly very even with the Lynx enjoying their best stretch at the opening 25 minutes of the second half when they dominated play. Lynx had chances to win the game near the end when at 87 minutes Cameron Medwin’s freekick from 22 yards was pushed wide right by the flying goalie and at 91 minutes when Niki Miodrag’s 15 yard shot was blocked by the goalie flying across his line again.
The Lynx finish their four game home stand to start the season on Sunday June 3rd at 3:00pm against Michigan Bucks. The Lady Lynx first home game is Wednesday May 30th at 11:00am for their annual School Day game against Hamilton Avalanche.
