Attendance was about 500 people on this warm humid night with it being already dark at game time.
This game was closer than the standings would indicate with the game looking like it would end in a tie. The referee could be accused of evening things up with his penalty call because just minutes before he awarded the kick SWE Nenad Stojcic had headed the ball to Sasa Viciknez to start him on a short run up the right. Viciknez’s cross deflected off the upper arm of an Astros defender standing in the box and bounced through to the left post where a White Eagles players was just a step behind the ball so only a cornerkick was awarded. After the winning goal, Astros had a good chance with Selvin Lammie and Diego Maradona working their way downfield on a 2 on 6 rush and having their shot deflect (on what looked like a handball in the box) over to the left wing where the goalie beat a charging David DiPlacido to slide and knock away the ball.
These two teams play again on Sunday night at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York at 7:00pm.
