Croatia's relentless pursuit

Toronto Croatia continued its unbeaten streak in a relentless pursuit of the International Division title with a 4-0 victory over the leading club and CSL defending champion, Italia Shooters at the Hershey Centre Friday night, while in a second CSL game, Serbian White Eagles also gained an important victory, a 3-1 result over struggling London City at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke.

Hugo Herrera opened the scoring for Croatia at 10 minutes and Mario Kulis made it 2-0 from the penalty spot at the 16th minute mark. Midfielder Boris Tomac kept the momentum going for the home side when he made it 3-0 at 53 minutes and forward Tihomir Maletic completed the scoring at 4-0 for Croatia at 62 minutes.

Toronto Croatia have a 8-0-7 WLT record for 31 points, that’s tied for second position with Serbian White Eagles (10-4-1) also at 31 points following their win. Italia Shooters hold a precarious lead at 9-3-5 for 32 points.

Serbian Eagles and Italia fought to a scoreless first half tie before Nikola Budalic broke the deadlock with a goal for Serbia at 56 minutes, but London tied the game just 5 minutes later, a goal by Jamie Andrews.

Serbia forward Noel Ellerton put his team up 2-1 at 80 minutes and Gabriel Pop scored his 11th of the season to increase the lead to 3-1 at 87 minutes.

London City have a 3-11-2 record for 11 points.
