Croatia remains unbeaten

Two goals by Toronto Croatia midfielder Hayden Fitzwilliams assured his team of a 3-0 victory over Windsor Border Stars and the continuation of a season-long unbeaten streak, while Serbian White Eagles outlasted North York Astros 6-3 with a hat-trick by striker Gabriel Pop at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke, and a goal by defender Roy Beishuizen at the Cove Road ground in London gave London City a 1-0 win over Portuguese Supra, three league games in CSL Friday night.

Boris Tomac opened the scoring for Croatia just five minutes after the opening whistle at the Hershey Centre and it was an even contest for most of the first half until Fitzwilliams struck twice at 36 minutes and at the 44th minute mark for a 3-0 score at the interval and the score at the final whistle.

Toronto Croatia are enjoying one of their best seasons since winning the Croatian championship for clubs outside of Croatia early in the season and the Mississauga-based team has an 11-game unbeaten streak for a 5-0-6 WLT record in the CSL for 21 points and third place in the International Division.

Gabriel Pop found the net at 13, 28 and 70 minutes for a strong individual performance in the 6-3 victory for Serbian Eagles, while Sasa Viciknez scored his eighth of the season with a penalty kick at the 18th minute mark. It was Serbian forward Nik Budalic who opened the scoring at the 7th minute and Alex Braletic at 73 minutes scored the home side’s sixth goal.

North York goals came from Diego Maradona at 31 minutes, Omar Samuels five minutes later and forward Alessandro Bancheri at 42 minutes. It was 4-3 at half-time.

Serbian White Eagles have an improved 7-2-1 record for 22 points and second position to Italia Shooters in the International Division, while North York Astros are at 3-7-2 for 11 points in the National Conference.

London City squeaked through with a deserved 1-0 victory in their game with Portuguese Supra, a goal headed in by Beishuizen from a 30 yard well-placed free kick at the 58th minute mark.

London improve their record to 3-7-2 for 11 points to now tie North York Astros for fourth place in the National Conference, while Portuguese are at 2-6-3 for 9 points in the International Division.
