Attak's Kolic hits two

Italia Shooters blanked Windsor Border Stars, 4-0, Trois-Rivieres Attak gained a 4-2 home victory over Portuguese Supra and North York Astros played to a 1-1 tie with Canadian Lions in CSL action on Sunday.

Forward Darko Kolic led the way with the opening two goals for Trois-Rivieres Attak against Portuguese Supra in a well-attended encounter in perfect conditions at the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres. Kolic struck at 14 and 16 minutes for a 2-0 halftime lead.

Forward Jesse Barcia reduced the lead for Portuguese at 55 minutes, but midfielder Guillaume Barette made it 3-1 for Attak seven minutes later. Portuguese Supra midfielder Helio Pereira made it 3-2 at 79 minutes – he beat Trois-Rivieres goalkeeper Andrew Webber from the penalty spot - but Nicolas Lesage completed the scoring with a fourth goal for Trois-Rivieres at 85 minutes, a 4-2 final. The Quebec team has a 2-2-1 WLT record, while Portuguese Supra lost its third game in succession for a 1-3-1 record.

Camilo Moreno’s goal from the penalty spot at 68 minutes salvaged the 1-1 tie for North York Astros in their game with Canadian Lions at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York. Forward Evan Millward opened the scoring for Lions at the 59 minute mark following a scoreless first half with few opportunities at either end. North York Astros and Canadian Lions are still looking for their first win of the new season, Astros with a 0-2-1 record and Lions are at 0-3-2.

Italia Shooters were much the best to score their fourth win in five games, a 4-0 result over Windsor Border Stars at The Soccer Centre in Vaughan. Jason De Thomasis struck his fourth of the season to open the scoring for Italia at the ninth minute mark, a 1-0 score at the interval. Kadian Leckey made it 2-0 at 76 minutes, Sean Myers 3-0 eight minutes later and Denny Velestegui scored his first goal for Shooters to round out the scoring. He put the ball past Windsor goalkeeper Anthony Santilli five minutes from time. Italia Shooters have a 4-0-1 record, Windsor Border Stars sit at 1-3-0.
