Teens try their best
VAUGHAN -- Toronto FC guest coach Eddie Kehoe got some first-hand experience judging the scoring talents of some of those taking part in open tryouts for the team yesterday.
He also has a hint for anyone with hopes of playing pro soccer in Toronto: Practise being a goalkeeper.
Kehoe was called into service at the Ontario Soccer Centre when fewer than expected 'keepers showed up for the tryouts.
"I'm a goalkeeping coach," Kehoe said.
"And after facing some of these lads I think I am happy being a coach."
NUMBERS GAME
The vast majority of players trying out had scoring on their minds.
Of the 394 who registered the first day, a whopping 166 listed themselves as midfielders and another 110 as forwards.
Only 76 defenders showed up to try out while a paltry 42 were seeking a job as a goalkeeper.
