LYNX NEWCOMERS HOPE TO HAVE IMPACT THIS WEEKEND

Titus named to Team of the Week

TUESDAY JUNE 6, 2006[TORONTO, ON] The Toronto Lynx hope a couple of talented forwards will be the tonic for their goal-scoring woes this Sunday when The Montreal Impact make their first visit to Centennial Park Stadium for a USL First Division clash. With the Lynx still searching for their first win, and having only found the net once in their first seven matches, goals are at a premium for the club. Kevin Jeffrey and Damien Pottinger made their debuts against Virginia Beach, and each had a number of chances, but with an extra week of training with the full squad they figure to be even more dangerous against Montreal.

The Impact head into Toronto sitting in sixth place in the USL-1 table, with 11 points from their first six matches, a somewhat slow start for the 2005 regular season champions. Mauricio Salles and Daniel Antoniuk lead the attack, with two goals apiece to start the season. Salles joined Montreal during the off-season from Puerto Rico after finishing in third place in the 2005 USL-1 goal scoring race with 14 tallies, one ahead of Antoniuk, who moved to Montreal from Portland. Former Lynx Defender of the Year Mauricio Vincello returns to Toronto as well.

Tickets are still available for this match as the Lynx celebrate Father Appreciation Night with lots of great soccer promotions courtesy of Pro Line. Ticket can be purchase on line or by calling 416-251-4625 x 31. The Centennial Stadium box office opens 2 hours before kick off.

RICK TITUS NAMED TO USL-1 TEAM OF THE WEEK

Veteran defender Rick Titus was named the United Soccer League First Division Team of the Week for his stellar play on Sunday evening against Virginia Beach. His solid play at the back helped neutralize the strong Mariners attack and earned the Lynx their first shutout of the year in a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
