Miami FC Visit Toronto This Week

LYNX/AIR MILES 'WAY TO PLAY' PROGRAM KICKING OFF THIS WEEKEND!

TUESDAY MAY 23, 2006[TORONTO, ON] Miami FC will make their inaugural visit to Centennial Park Stadium this Friday for the Lynx’ annual School Day match at 11:00 AM. The expansion franchise comes into Toronto sitting in fifth place in the USL First Division table with a 2-2-2 (8 pts) record. It is unknown at this time if Brazilian international superstar Romario will make the trip with the club as they make their only visit for 2006. His appearance is a possibility but his status will not be confirmed until Thursday when the team departs for Toronto. Romario currently sits second all-time only to Pele in goals scored and is rapidly approaching the 1000 career goal plateau. The club also features another Brazilian World cup hero Zinho, Guatemalan international midfielder Mario “El Loco” Rodriguez, Haitian international defender Stephane Guillaume and Jamaican international midfielder Sean Fraser.

The Lynx are still in search of their first victory, having lost their first five matches and only notching one goal so far in the young season. The annual School Day match caps off the Toronto Lynx School program which features Lynx and Lady Lynx players providing clinics and educational presentations to students at schools all across the Greater Toronto Area. LYNX/AIR MILES 'WAY TO PLAY' PROGRAM KICKING OFF THIS WEEKEND!

The Toronto Lynx Soccer Club, in partnership with the AIR MILES® Reward Program will stage the first of 5 events as part of the AIR MILES "Way to Play" Soccer for the 2006 season. AIR MILES "Way to Play" Soccer brings the Lynx/Lady Lynx players to communities across Toronto for 5 1-day events offering scrimmages, clinics, skills contests, exhibition matches, a Meet-and-Greet with Lynx/Lady Lynx players, autograph/photo sessions, barbecues, an appearance by team mascot Lynxster and a performance by the Lynx dance team.

This weekend, look for the Lynx at Orangeville Secondary School hosted by the Orangeville Minor Soccer Club on Saturday May 27th at 10:00 and at Central High School hosted by Lokomotiv Oakville of the Burlington Soccer League on Sunday May 28th at 1:00.

GODDARD RETURNS

The Lynx bolstered their goalkeeping situation on Thursday with the re-signing of ‘keeper Richard Goddard. Goddard, in his third season with the Lynx, led the club in wins and goals against average for last season will share the goalkeeping load with Theo Zagar. He made his first start of the year on Sunday evening in a close 2-1 loss to the Timbers in Portland.
