Eagles fly high

Serbian White Eagles continued their relentless domination of the International Division with a seventh consecutive league victory of the season, a 7-2 rout of London City at The Cove in London, while at the same time, Toronto Croatia attempted to keep pace with a 4-1 defeat of Caribbean Selects at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke, two games in the CSL Friday night.

White eagles powered to a 7-0 halftime lead, with two goals by striker Gabriel Pop, his ninth and tenth of the season at 27 and 38 minutes, two goals by Sasa Viciknez, his seventh and eighth of the season at 19 and 41 minutes, and singles from Alex Baletic, Dragan Radic and defender Mirko Medic at 7 minutes, 30 minutes and 34 minutes respectively.

Changes by London in the second half to include the two youngest players in the CSL brought some response when 17 year old forward Bruno Mota found the net at 53 minutes and a strike by midfielder Miguel Knox at 84 minutes reduced the lead to 7-2, the final score. The youngest CSL player, 16 year old Tsahka Anderson made a good impression in the London second half recovery.

Forward Boris Maric opened the scoring for Toronto Croatia at 23 minutes at Centennial Stadium, forward Tommy Ples made it 2-0 at 67 minutes,but Caribbean's Steven Craig cut the lead for a 2-1 score one minute later. Croatia midfielder Jure Pavic made it 3-1 at 80 minutes and Hayden Fitzwilliams scored his seventh of the season to make it 4-1 at 86 minutes, the final score.
