Wednesday - June 7, 2006
Eloy strikes late equalizer

A goal by midfielder James Eloy just 10 minutes from time gave St. Catharines Wolves a 1-1 home tie with Toronto Croatia at Club Roma in St. Catharines, the only game played in the Canadian Soccer League Wednesday night.

Eloy put the ball past Croatia goalkeeper George Azcurra to rescue the tie when it appeared the visitors were heading for their first win of the season and three points after Croatia’s Hayden Fitzwilliams struck the opening goal at the 68th minute mark. Veteran Wolves’ goalkeeper Claudio Perri, a former University of Atlanta goalkeeper and starting his fifth year with the Garden City team, had no chance to prevent Fitzwilliams’ opener.

St. Catharines travel to Windsor for a game with the Border Starsat 7 pm on Saturday night with a win and a tie following a 1-0 victory over London City at London last Friday.

Toronto Croatia play their second game of the new season at home to Caribbean Selects, that’s an 8 o’clock start at Memorial Park in Streetsville on Friday.
