Les Dynamites impress
Laval Dynamites continued their winning form to defeat Caribbean Selects 4-1 and jump into second place in the National Division, while Windsor Border Stars made progress also with a 4-2 victory over London City, the only two games in the Canadian Soccer League Saturday.
Laval gradually took charge at Birchmount Stadium in Scarborough and midfielder Ammar Badawiem opened the scoring at the 17 minute mark for a 1-0 lead at half-time. Forward Rashid Madkour scored a second Laval goal one minute after the interval and a third five minutes later. Dwayne Osborne reduced the lead with a goal for Caribbean Selects at 53 minutes and Nicolas Nowland made it 4-1 for Les Dynamites at 87 minutes, the final score.
The Quebec-based Dynamites have an impressive three wins and a tie since August 19 and their second place position in the National Division with a 7-7-5 WLT record for 26 points is just one point behind the leaders, Oakville Blue Devils. Caribbean Selects are at 1-14-3 for six points.
Windsor Border Stars also improved their position in the National Division, with defender Lamar Peters scoring at 11 and 38 minutes, while Sampson also struck a pair for the winners at 40 minutes and just before the final whistle at the 93rd minute mark. Gentjan Dervishi and defender Mohcine Talouati scored for London City at 49 and 75 minutes and Windsor goalkeeper Anthony Santilli saved a penalty kick by Dervishi early in the second half. Windsor¡¯s Dan Trosper was shown a red card in the second half following a second caution.
Border Stars now have a 6-6-5 record for 23 points, fourth in the standings, while London City are at 3-9-6 for 15 points.
