ST. CATHARINES IN PLAYOFF FIGHT
Wednesday - September 6, 2006
Wolves, Oakville scoreless

St. Catharines Wolves kept their playoff hopes alive with a 0-0 tie with National Division leaders Oakville Blue Devils in the only game played in the Canadian Soccer League Wednesday. St. Catharines have three games remaining in the regular season schedule and the Garden City team is on the fringes of being one of the eight teams to qualify for a playoff berth.

The point was also an important one for the Blue Devils as they hold on to what is now a precarious lead in the race for the divisional title. Oakville has a 7-5-6 WLT record for 27 points, that's just three points ahead of Brampton Stallions which has played one game less than Oakville.

The game at Club Roma was a hard fought struggle in the midfield for most of the time with Claudio Perri for the home side and Chris Baker for Oakville each playing a solid game in goal.

St. Catharines now have a 6-8-5 record for 23 points, tied with Laval Dynamites for fourth spot.

The CSL regular season schedule ends September 28 and the playoffs are expected to begin on Sunday, October 1 through to the championship final on Monday, October 9.
