Serbians set torrid pace

The two teams battling for CSL International Division honours, Serbian White Eagles and Toronto Croatia, both won their respective games in the Canadian Soccer League Friday night. Eagles maintained their torrid pace with a 3-0 defeat of St. Catharines Wolves for a perfect 11th victory of the season, while Croatia was also impressive with a 6-0 rout of London City.

Serbian White Eagles were off to a quick start at Centennial Stadium when forward Dragan Radovic lifted the ball over an oncoming Claudio Perri in the Wolves’ goal at the 4th minute, and the 1-0 held until Sasa Viciknez made it 2-0, his 15th goal of the season at 51 minutes. Defender Mirko Medic completed the scoring with a goal at the 81st minute mark.

The Eagles continue their relentless pace for a 11-0-0 WLT record for 33 points, that’s two points in front of Toronto Croatia with a 9-1-5 record.

Croatia dominated London City on goals by Halberto Harris at 18 minutes, Boris Maric at 30 minutes, midfielder Boric Tamic at the 59th minute mark, Peter Curic, his fifth of the season six minutes later, Hayden Fitzwilliams, his ninth of the campaign at 75 minutes and forward Tommy Ples, also his ninth of the season at the 88th minute mark.

London City now have a 2-8-5 record for 11 points at the foot of the National Division.
